Course Overview
The ASP Annual Refresher program provides refresher training and assessment for workers who are required to maintain currency of competency while working on or near live low-voltage electrical distribution networks. The program reinforces critical rescue, electrical safety, testing, and first aid competencies in accordance with applicable network standards, approved procedures, and safe working practices.
Training is focused on the application of risk assessment, hazard identification, and control measures relevant to electricity supply industry (ESI) environments. Participants review and demonstrate emergency response and rescue procedures, including elevated work platform rescue, pole-top rescue, live low-voltage panel rescue, and first aid, using approved equipment and techniques while maintaining electrical safety and network compliance.
This program forms part of the Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) pathway and supports annual refresher requirements for ASP personnel undertaking authorised work activities on the distribution network.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this program, participants will be able to:
-
Identify hazards and assess risks associated with rescue, testing, and first aid activities within an electrical network environment
-
Apply relevant WHS legislation, codes of practice, network standards, and safe work methods
-
Select, inspect, and correctly use rescue and first aid equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and network requirements
-
Perform controlled descent escape from an elevated work platform
-
Conduct elevated work platform rescue in accordance with approved rescue procedures
-
Perform pole-top rescue using established industry and network practices
-
Perform rescue from a live low-voltage panel in accordance with approved isolation and rescue procedures
-
Conduct testing of connections to low-voltage electricity networks prior to connection or energisation
-
Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
-
Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid in an electricity supply industry environment
