Course Overview
Level 2 ASP Metering – Environmental (Standalone)
The Level 2 ASP Metering – Environmental course provides targeted training and assessment in the environmental and sustainability obligations applicable to Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) undertaking metering activities within the electricity supply industry.
This standalone program is designed for workers who are required to demonstrate competency in applying environmental and sustainable procedures when performing work in the energy sector, particularly in relation to metering installations, maintenance, and associated field activities.
Training focuses on the identification and management of environmental risks, compliance with environmental legislation and network requirements, and the application of sustainable work practices consistent with industry and DNSP expectations. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to minimise environmental impact, manage waste and materials appropriately, and respond to environmental incidents in accordance with approved procedures.
This course supports the environmental competency requirements associated with Level 2 ASP Metering authorisation and is suitable for participants who need to complete or update the environmental units as part of their overall ASP accreditation pathway.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify environmental and sustainability obligations relevant to Level 2 ASP metering activities within the electricity supply industry

Interpret and apply environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and network requirements applicable to metering work

Identify environmental risks and impacts associated with metering installation, maintenance, and decommissioning activities

Implement control measures to minimise environmental impact in accordance with approved work methods, environmental management plans, and network procedures

Apply sustainable work practices, including efficient use of resources, waste minimisation, and correct handling, storage, and disposal of materials

Identify and manage environmental incidents, hazards, and non-conformances, including reporting and escalation in accordance with workplace and network requirements

Complete required environmental documentation and records accurately and in accordance with organisational and DNSP requirements

Conduct work activities in a manner that demonstrates environmental responsibility, sustainability, and compliance with electrical supply industry expectations
Authorised Work Scope – Level 2 ASP Classes
This rescue training supports work undertaken within the following Level 2 ASP authorisation classes:

Prerequisites
You will need:
- Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- 100 points ID (e.g. Passport & drivers licence 0R Birth Certificate & drivers licence -check web for combinations OR check online for other options). One must be a photo ID.
- PPE (if applicable)
- Hard Hat
- Eye Protection/safety glasses
- High Visibility Retro Reflective Vest
- Steel capped boots
Entry Requirements:
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or equivalent)
- UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general installations (Electrical supervisors license)
- Prerequisites: N/A
Certification
Upon satisfactory completion participants will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the units of competency:
