We can deliver
100% Face to Face
Or
eLearning (Online Theory & Knowledge Assessment) & On site (face to face) Practical/Performance Training and Assessment
Duration 3-4 Hours for experienced civil construction workers.
Knowledge Assessment: 45 - 90minutes. (Depending on experience & Language, literacy, numeracy level)
Practical/Performance assessment approx. 90 minutes working in groups.
Space or Location Requirements The work area should be adequately isolated from any other operations for the duration of the assessment.
The location needs to be large enough to allow the safe movement of plant and shoring equipment and made up of materials that can be excavated to a depth to allow shoring equipment to be used.
See attached photos as an example of a previous set up. Note Photo 3: Trench may be excavated in a stock pile. Please make sure to smooth out any uneven ground conditions where personnel will need to work.
Task or Site-Specific Requirements:
The basic trench shoring task needs to reflect realistic work requirements and civil construction projects. The dimensions, type and complexity of tasks needs to be consistent with jobs that a person found competent in this unit would be expected to work on.
The learner is not permitted to direct the plant operator, select and inspect lifting equipment and apply slinging techniques during the installation and removal of shoring equipment unless they are a licensed dogger or rigger. The learner may offer assistance in explaining the requirements of the job to a licensed dogger or rigger who is performing these tasks.
There will need to be an existing excavation (Minimum 1.2m) and have everything needed to put together the shoring boxes lift them into place and to install secured ladder for access/egress & davit arm (if required)
